Very Manly!!

The internet has been down foe 24 hours........very frustrating.....but that's one of the joys of living in 'paradise'!! Anyway now that I'm back online it's time for another card. I thought it was time I added to my collection of cards for the man of the house. I have used a template supplied by one of my fellow crafters in my craft group. As you can see it's a waistcoat which opens.

For the waiscoat I used plain card which I ran through the paper crimper. I do have a CB but I find this hand-held machine gives a great effect. I wanted to have the look of corduroy velvet and I think I achieved this.
The contrasting side panel is a scrap of wall paper that I had in my scrap box.....no dp used this time. I also lined the waistcoat with it and added scraps of it as pockets and for the handerkerchief peeping out of the top one.
The three'buttons' are brads which matched the green colour in the wallpaper perfectly.....think I've put them on the correct side!! A peel off greeting and corner finished it off.
I've scanned this card so it's not obvious that the opening is off centre therefore the panel is actually the inside of the card.......if that makes sense!!

Another one added to the collection.....must get started on the dreaded Christmas cards soon!!!

Beach Surf and Sun

Whewwwww!!! It's hot hot hot....we're having a heatwave here and sleeping at night is difficult. Even with the air con and fans it's still hot. Not complaining mind you cos I hate the Winters, so hot is OK by me.

This weeks challenge at  pinspirationalchallenges is 'Beach Surf Sun'

The sponsors are Freshly Brewed and Platypus Creek. Try and find time to visit these sites as they have some great digis.

For my DT card I chose 2 images from FBD 'Peace be still' and 'Bikini Kim'

I coloured it with pergamano pencils and mounted it on yellow card stock to match the sand and the sun. The main card is hammered torquoise..... a great sea colour. The sentiment is a peel off 'It's Your Day'. I found the perfect surfing topper in my stash to which I added an orange ribbon bow. I added orange and gold ribbon down the side to match the sunset.

Relaxing and having a 'sundowner' after a day surfing!! This looks like a scene from the beach here at Coral Bay.......not so peaceful tho in August!!

Cute and quick

I'm getting very excited as my son will be arriving in a couple of days with my youngest Grand daughter. Lots of cuddles lined up and no doubt a bit of card making with my Grand daughter after she's tired of the pool and the beach!!!

The card this week is inspired by the challenge at CD Sunday......'Quick and Cute'.
It was very quick and simple to make using a JS CD Dancing with Shadows. A really cute image of a small child 'talking', I think, to a bird in the garden. The image is matted on silver mirri and put on a square hammered card from my card stash. The ribbon behind the image is twisted to give the effect of  a loop to hang up as a picture. Four pink flower sequins were added to the corners to finish it off.

So there you go......sooooooooooo quick and simple.

(PIN)spirational challenge

Another exciting time. I'm beginning my role on the Design Team of (PIN)spirational challenges

This week's inspirational piccie is a delightful garden shed/summerhouse

Lots of great inspiration for card making and using digis is a new technique for me........not something I've done a lot of. But I'm always up for a challenge so here goes. The sponsors this week are squigglefly and pinandtack handcrafted delights

                                                               Prize is 3 digis

Prize is $10 gift voucher

The card was made using a freebee from a crafter friend..........think she'd got it from a magazine. It's in the shape of a greenhouse. The card is a reverse gatefold. It's been decorated with images of tiny micro mini pots etc which I've had in my stash for ever and ever. The gardening tools digi is from Squigglefly. I made it into a tag to hang from the eaves of the greenhouse. It's attached with cord and a brad.

I added the sentiment to the tag 'All things grow with love'. This is also from Squigglefly.

Please pop over to pinspirationalchallenges to see some of the great cards the other teamies have made. Have fun!!

Garden Pleasures

Another busy week here in Cyprus and I had a lovely surprise at the weekend when my son rang to say that he and my youngest granddaughter will be visiting soon.........that really cheered me up!! I'm looking forward to all my cuddles.

'Garden Pleasures' is this week's challenge at CD Sunday. I bought a Card Carousel template of a wheelbarrow eons ago and I have made it up once at Easter time and put mini eggs in it. As I've a few larger blooms and lots of greenery I thought I'd give it an airing again. The challenge at Fussy and Fancy is  'More than one fold' so I thought this would fit the bill nicely too.

I used gold card stock for the wheelbarrow, The wheel is challenging to make but it's worth taking the time to get it perfect so that as you gently push it, it moves along....clever stuff eh! A piece of oasis was put in the wheellbarrow to hold the blooms............so no gluing needed. The large ivy leaves were some I bought a long time ago and used one or two then they've lain around as they are really too cumbersome to put on cards. They are more suitable for flower arranging.......why did I buy them. What was I thinking?

I found some lovely 'gardening' sentiments on Debbi Moores Shabby Chic CD which I adhered to cocktail sticks and then stuck them into the oasis.

This will be a hand delivered card/gift as I think it might get a little squashed in the post from here to the UK!! The template comes with instructions for making the box so that's my next job. I'm going to make it up using acetate 'walls' so that the wheelbarrow will not only be protected but it can also be seen on display. You could also make these for Xmas and put tiny fir trees and mini pine cones in it.

Now who would really appreciate this latest creation!!!!
